The programme opens with t ‘M et variations, a declaration of love for ballet and for Maurice Béjart, created in 2016, ten years after the choreographer’s demise. This ballet by Gil Roman, one of Béjart’s first dancers and his natural heir at the helm of Béjart Ballet Lausanne, is an intimate journal to be leafed through, page after page, rediscovering the nuances of feeling and the inner necessity of Dance, the art of Terpsichore. An ideal manifesto for a show that combines memories and affections, and continues with a tribute to Béjart composed of extracts from his ballets inspired by Pasolini, or interpreted by another of his historic dancers and his right-hand man at the head of Mudra, Micha van Hoecke, who passed away last August.
