Before her, no other singer had ever achieved the feat of lining up eight albums on the Billboard Jazz chart, two Grammys and ten Juno Awards along a path that has seen her perform with the likes of Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand and Tony Bennett. Canadian Diana Krall has been on the jazz scene since she was a teenager. She owes her beginnings to her father, an amateur pianist and a great fan of Fats Waller. After training in the best American musical institutions, Krall immediately began to work with musicians such as John Clayton, Jeff Hamilton, Jimmy Rowles and, above all, bassist Ray Brown, whom she considers her mentor. Her new album, This Dream of You, inspired by Bob Dylan’s Together through Life, is a tribute to Krall’s friend and producer Tommy LiPuma, with whom she worked until his death in 2017.
