With a new three-year project, Ermanna Montanari and Marco Martinelli are launching their ‘Cantiere Malagola’: on the one hand, they are taking up the important legacy of their ‘Cantiere Dante’; on the other, they are cementing their close relationship with the Centre for Voice and Sound Research, founded and directed by Montanari herself with Enrico Pitozzi. They do this by reversing the terms of the narrative: moving from the enchanted castle to the inn, they highlight the wound, the doubt that Cervantes raises about the complex relationship between reality and dream, which leads us to question ourselves deeply, and to focus on dream and infinite desire. It is the first ‘gateway’ to a dreamlike, mysterious, individual journey—a vocal and aural journey reminiscent of the Eleusinian Mysteries.
