Napule è, Je so’ pazzo, Quanno chiove… Pino Daniele’s songs always speak to the heart and soul, even when they have just music and no lyrics. Fabrizio Bosso and Julian Oliver Mazzariello, among the best Italian jazz musicians, now offer a new portrait of the beloved Neapolitan singer-songwriter, ten years after his death, and these are not mere covers of Daniele’s iconic songs: what they give us is the joy of rediscovering them through new, original and imaginative colours, to further appreciate their profound poetry. This project (whose title is inspired by the lyrics of Mal di te) has also resulted in an album recorded in Naples, a magical city, rich in history, enchantment and contradictions. A city that, as Pino sang, is truly “a city of a thousand colours”.
