Inspired by Olindo Guerrini, a poet writing both in Italian and dialect, and an estimated gourmet and food writer, the Russi-to-Sant’Alberto cycling trek includes several culinary, poetic and musical stops at selected farmyards: open “social spaces” enclosed by farmhouses, barns, stables, wells and the omnipresent brick ovens. Guerrini and Stecchetti, two names for a single poet whose funny, ironic face lurks behind the dialect of the Romagnol Sonnets, while his sentimental, at times transgressive, poetry is revealed by the Rhymes in Italian. That was the belle époque of Kreisler, Lehár, Offenbach, the Romagna composer Carlo Brighi, who imported and revisited the Viennese style “inventing” the liscio, and of Francesco Paolo Tosti, who set to music some of Lorenzo Stecchetti’s most famous verses.
