Pia de’ Tolomei, one of the most fascinating and mysterious characters of Dante’s Comedy, inspires this work, presented in Italian and French. Pia herself will tell her own story to a passer-by, who might be her jailer, or maybe Dante himself: a gallery of portraits is created day after day, like an elegant mosaic decorating the cloister arcades, answering the woman’s delicate and desperate entreaty to be remembered.
