The play, based on the third and final novel by Lewis Carroll (the famous author of the two Alice stories), alternates between two different narrative levels: you pass from one to the other almost without realising it. In the first, everything revolves around the captivating Lady Muriel, loved by a young doctor, but engaged to a soldier. In the second, the story of two children, Sylvie and her little brother Bruno, unfolds in a world of fantasy. The story, suspended between dream and reality, develops the dual, and at the same time single, plot of a fatally collapsing world, in which the power of beauty and love suddenly breaks through. Sylvie and Bruno is a contemporary fairy tale that has at its centre political crises, deadly epidemics and a tragic sense of ending, but also the creative force of dreams and the life-giving power of the imagination.
