Perfectly at ease in those spaces which, like Sant’Apollinare in Classe, aspire to the Absolute, the Tallis Scholars will propose a repertoire ranging from Arvo Pärt’s evocative contemporary sounds to such English classics like William Byrd, Thomas Tallis and John Taverner alongside the Italian school of Palestrina and Allegri. Well past their 40th anniversary, the Tallis Scholars are “as near extraterrestrial as you can get sitting in a concert hall” (The Observer).
