«In every street, in every narrow alley, that song disturbs me, it’s terribly unbearable. Young, adults, children… everyone knows the lyrics: ‘I love you so, but you don’t think about me’». This is how an anonymous gentleman described the incredible popularity of Neapolitan music, which reached its peak in the 19th century, even tempting composers such as Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti. Singers, impresarios, directors, publishers, poets, writers and intellectuals flocked to Naples, captivated by its charm and its music, and even D’Annunzio was inspired by the city to write his famous A’ vucchella.
This concert is fuelled by the power of this music and this land: the virtuosity of the mandolins and the elegance of Capezzuto’s voice will take us on a journey through time with timeless songs.
